Revisiting January 6, 2021
Today is the day when both sides contemplate the meaning of what happened a year ago. Conservatives are divided over whether it was really a productive, meaningful exercise in civil discourse, while Leftists continue to seek their Reichstag fire moment to enable even more oppressive controls over the population. After all, if the country can be locked down for a bad flu like virus, imagine what could be accomplished if your political opponents could be tarnished with the dreaded insurrection label.
Both sides of the political aisle like to declare the others to be Nazis and Fascists. But which side is really closer? It is clear that the Democrats have mastered the art of propaganda and projection as well as anyone, seeming to rip pages right out of the National Socialist playbook of Dr. Goebbels. Unlike the National Socialists, who were quickly able to take advantage of the Reichstag fire event, the Democrats (press, education and politicians) are running a full court press to memorialize January 6th, so as to be able to take advantage in much the way the National Socialists did.
